Scarlet Ibis Juvenile Eudocimus ruber

The Scarlet Ibis chick has wholly brown plumage when fledged. It then starts to develop pink feathers.

The juveniles have pale bills. The pink plumage areas slowly expand and the legs turn pink.

Almost wholly pink, with black wing edges. Even when the plumage is fully adult red, the bill remains pale until maturity (about 2 years).
