The Saffron Toucanet is native to fragmented Atlantic forest in southern Brazil. Its genus
has been moved from mountain toucans to a monotypic genus and now to that of the aracaris. It is also called the
Banana Aracari or Toucan.
The male plumage is more golden and that of the female more olive-coloured. Eating whole fruits,
they have a useful role in seed dispersal. They are "near threatened" by fragmentation of their limited habitat.
