The Vermiculated Eagle Owl (Eagle-owl), while large, is one of the smallest Eagle Owls at some 18 inches high.
It has a wingspan of over a metre.
It is native to the northern part of sub-Saharan Africa.
Also called the Greyish Eagle Owl, it used to be considered as the northern form of the African Spotted
Eagle Owl. The word "vermiculated" refers to the thin wavy lines on its front plumage.
