The European Honey Buzzard breeds in much of northern and central Europe (through to western Siberia),
including a small presence in the UK, and winters in tropical Africa.
It and the Asian Honey Buzzards are more related to kites than to true buzzards.
Diet is almost entirely larvae and nests of wasps and hornets (to a lesser extent, bees' nests and small vertebrates).
It has claws to dig for wasps nests on the ground and thick feathers on the head and face to protect from stings.
