The Regent Parrot, named after Britain's Prince Regent, also called Regent or Black-tailed Parakeet and Rock Pebbler,
is native mainly to south-western Australia with a smaller population in the southeast.
The male bird is usually a lighter yellowy green than the female with different shades of green on
the head and back and with more red in the wings and beak.
The Regent Parrot is one of three "Polytelis" species ("Poly . . ." being a good name for a parrot genus).
