The Green-winged Macaw (also called Red and Green Macaw) isn't green-winged but has a green band between the red and blue colours of its wings.
It has small red feathers on its white face. It is larger than the similar Scarlet Macaw (the
latter has a yellow band between red and blue on its wings and has a bare white face).
The nutcracker suite - the beaks of the large macaws are strong enough to break walnuts.
Native to forests of northern and central South America, their population has declined,
in common with other macaws, through habitat destruction and capture for the pet trade.
The underside is red.
