The Purple-crowned Lorikeet is native to scrub and dry forest habitat of southern Australia.
In addition to the purple crown there is a red brow, gold cheekspot, pale blue breast, bright blue
"shoulder" patch and wing edge and red underwing (latter visible in flight).
Male and female have similar plumage but the female's is slightly less bright and she has less or no red underwing.
