Great Hanging Parrot Loriculus stigmatus

The Great Hanging Parrot, also called the Sulawesi Hanging Parrot, is native to Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is a small parrot at some 15 cm length, but the largest of the hanging parrots.

The male has a bright red patch on his head and bib. The female has the red bib but only some faint red markings on her head. Many thanks to Iggino Van Bael for the use of his photos on this page.
