The Scaly-naped Amazon, also called the Mercenary and Grey-naped Amazon, is native to northern South America from Bolivia through to Venezuela. There are 2 subspecies, the nominal mercenaria and, shown, the canipalliata from Colombia. The difference in plumage relates to a red speculum (nominal) being maroon wing marks (canipalliata).
