Grey Heron - The Bill
The bill of the breeding Grey Heron can turn bright red, usually with a yellow tip.
Adult herons, with white face/neck and black crown, have a black upper and yellow lower bill.
The breeding male can have an entirely yellow beak, sometimes with pink.
The Grey Herons above have a pink lower bill rather than the normal yellow.
These juvenile heron twins have the grey heads of young herons; their beaks have
the usual black upper and yellow lower bill. Even heron chicks have a yellow lower bill.
Another heron, a breeding male, with an almost red bill (with some yellow at the tip).
"Frank!" All Grey Herons are called "Frank" - listen to them calling each other.
