Solitary Tinamou Tinamus solitarius

Tinamous are native to Central and South America. They are related to flightless ratites like the Emu and Rhea but they can fly to escape predators. The Solitary Tinamou lives in coastal forests of eastern Brazil.

Their eggs are not uniform egg-shaped and, like Rheas, it is the male that incubates them and raises the chicks. Male and female have similar plumage.
