The Elegant Crested Tinamou is native to grasslands and open woodland of southern South America.
Despite its pheasant-like appearance and behaviour, it is most related to Greater Rheas.
Tinamous are native to Central and South America. They are related to flightless ratites
like the Emu and Rhea but they can fly to escape predators.
Not so "elegant crested".
The quail shape
Their colourful, glossy eggs are not uniform egg-shaped and, like Rheas, it is the male that incubates them and raises the chicks.
Male and female have similar plumage.
