Barrow's Goldeneye Bucephala islandica

Barrow's Goldeneye, named after Sir John Barrow, is mainly a sea-duck, closely related to the common Goldeneye. It lives in lakes, ponds and sheltered coastal sea in northern North America and Iceland.

The appearance, including the golden eye, is very similar to the common Goldeneye, but the two white spots on the drake's face are crescent, teardrop-shaped instead of round oval.

Females (above) are also similar to the common Goldeneye female, but have an orangey-yellow bill, or mixed black and yellow.
