The Purple-tailed Imperial Pigeon is found in West Papua and Papua New Guinea.
Imperial Pigeons are large, forest-dwelling pigeons with stomachs and guts adapted for eating fruit without damaging the seeds so
that they assist in dispersing the seeds of their food plants.
Male and female have similar plumage, a pinkish sandy front, pink head with red eye area, blue-grey nape, green wings and a purple tail tipped with silver.
