The (Laughing) Kookaburra is well known for its racous laughing sound. They are native to Australia.
The bandit mask below the dark eye and pale blue-green wing markings (less extensive than the Blue-winged species).
Male and female have similar plumage.
Kookaburras can become quite tame when there's a picnic to share.
Related to kingfishers, Kookaburras do not fish but generally eat lizards, snakes, small mammals,
small birds and food on unattended barbeques.
