The (Laughing) Kookaburra is well known for its racous laughing sound. They are native to Australia.
The bandit mask below the dark eye and white or pale blue wing markings (less extensive than the Blue-winged species).
Male and female have similar plumage.
Kookaburras can become quite tame when there's a picnic to share.
Related to kingfishers, Kookaburras do not fish but generally eat lizards, snakes, small mammals,
small birds and food on unattended barbeques.
