The Great Kiskadee is the largest of the Tyrant Flycatchers, measuring up to 10 inches (26cm) from head to tail. It is present from southern USA through Central America to northern South America.

It looks similar to several other tyrant flycatchers: it is larger than the Lesser Kiskadee and has more rufous plumage in wings and tail than the Boat-billed Flycatcher as well as a narrower bill. The photos above were taken in Costa Rica by Alexandra Makhnina who observed how the bird was not worried to be close to people and was sitting on a tree hunting over rocks and water.
