Painted Firetail Emblema pictum

The Painted Firetail, also called Painted Finch, is native to arid areas of much of Australia from Queensland to Western Australia in the north to South Australia and, recently, New South Wales in the south. It is the only finch remaining in the Emblema genus since the Diamond, Beautiful and Red-eared Firetails were split out recently to a separate genus (Stagonopleura).
