The Western Bluebill is one of three Bluebill finches. It is native to much of West and Central Africa.
The male has a blue-black bill with blue base and red tip and black plumage with bright red throat, breast and flanks.
The female has less red on her blue-black bill, a brown head and has similar red plumage with the addition of white spots on the flank and belly
(as do the females of the other two Bluebill species, the Red-headed and Grant's).
