The Red-whiskered Bulbul comes from Asia, from India to Thailand and Hong Kong.
It has a brown back, white chest, light front, red vent and prominent black, pointed crest.
It also has a red triangle (sometimes protruding) between its white cheek and eye which gives its name.
There are several subspecies across its range with small variations in plumage.
Juveniles are slightly greyer and initially don't have the red whisker patch.
Male and female have similar plumage (and whiskers).
