The Capercaillie, also called the Western Capercaillie or the Wood Grouse, is a large dark grouse native to Scotland, Scandinavia, north Russia and some forested regions of continental Europe.
The male can raise his tail like a turkey in display.
His chest is iridescent dark green.
The female has cryptic camouflage patterning.
The insulated feet.
