The White-knee Tarantula or Bird-eating Spider, also called Brazilian and Giant White-knee, is native to the Amazon Basin moist tropical forest floor of north Brazil. Its black head/body is up to 3.5 inches (9 cm) long and leg-span 8.5 inches (22cm). Despite the name "Bird-eating Spider", their diet is mainly large insects and small reptiles but will include any animal they can fit in their jaws.
