The Curly-hair Tarantula or Bird-eating Spider is native to tropical scrub of Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
It has golden bronze bristles that curl slightly, but that, like other tarantulas, can be kicked off the body as a first defense mechanism
and can blind eyes or irritate skin of attackers. Its leg-span is 6 inches (15cm). It is a mainly nocturnal ambush predator. Its main threat is habitat loss.
