The Regal Jumping Spider is native to the southern United States of America and the West Indies.
Males, above, are black with a white pattern, often resembling a smiling face.
Females can be brown, grey or ginger.
Both have iridescent green-blue chelicerae and two large and two small forward-facing eyes.
Tiny, but large for a Jumping Spider, they can reach around 1cm long (head and body) and, exceptionally, females can be some 2cm.
They can jump six times their length.
