Banded Garden Spider
This spider looks similar to the European Wasp Spider but pattern on the spiders' backs is very different to those in the UK - much paler colouring and more regular banding. The banding on the legs is also different. This is another Argiope species, the Banded Garden Spider, Argiope trifasciata although it seems to have 4 yellow bands not 3. They were in Tenerife, Canary Islands.

The zigzag hanging piece of web on the orb is a typical feature of Wasp Spider webs. The spider on the above right has no banding on its pink legs, a different back pattern and is much smaller. It was in the same large web as the one above centre: it is a male.
