The European Sheetweb Spider, also called the Common Hammock-Weaver Spider, like most Sheet Web spiders, spends most of its life upside down
under its sheet web. 5-7mm long (head/body), it has a black stripe along its head (cephalothorax) and white markings on its dark abdomen.
The abdomen gets darker with age. It can look a little similar to L. hortensis.
Not sure what is going on here. It looks like the spider has wrapped up her mate in silk web
and is eating his body and surprised head. Or maybe its the head of another insect or spider entirely.
