The Common Mesh Weaver Spider is a small, dark brown or black spider with white sides common over much of Europe
including the UK in low grassland, but with a patchy distribution. They have white garters. Females are some 3.5mm long.
Above is a male (smaller, darker) approaching a female defensively and with a small present to keep her distracted.
