The West African Dwarf Crocodile is native to West and Central Africa. It is reported that there
are three distinct populations.
The above left pictures are of a mature adult and above right of a juvenile.
The West African Dwarf is the smallest of the true crocodiles but still can reach lengths
of up to 6 feet (nearly 2 metres).
It is solitary and mainly nocturnal. Its hide is not considered as good quality leather as that of the
larger crocodiles but it is hunted for meat and suffers habitat loss.
