The Siamese Crocodile was thought to be extinct in the wild but was rediscovered in Cambodia in 2000.
It is virtually extinct in Thailand but critically endangered populations have been found in Borneo, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.
Males can reach over 3 metres length (some 10 feet). Mothers guard nest mounds during incubation
and have been seen helping hatchlings from their shells and taking them to water.
It is one of the most endangered crocodilians through habitat destruction and poaching.
Medical studies have found their blood can fight bacteria.
