Black Caiman Melanosuchus niger

The Black Caiman takes its name from its mainly black body (for jungle camouflage) but also has light and dark bars on its lighter head. It is native to the Amazon River basin (Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and the Guianas). It is the largest of the alligator family, with males averaging 5 metres length (16 feet).
