Japanese Rat Snake Elaphe climacophora

The Japanese Rat Snake is native to most of Japan. The adult grows to 1-2 metres long and can be yellowy green or bluish green. The juvenile is brownish and banded. It is not venomous but coils and suffocates its prey of small rodents, amphibians, reptiles and birds. It hibernates in the coldest months.
