The Green Tree Python is native to tropical forests of New Guinea, Indonesia and Australia's Cape York.
It is mainly arboreal and spends much of the day drapped over a branch in a particular coiled up pattern
with its head in the middle, as does South America's Emerald Tree Boa.
It can grow to some 2 metres length. Diet is small mammals and reptiles. Mothers guard and brood their eggs
before they hatch. Juveniles are yellow or red.
Like the Emerald Tree Boa, it has a northern and southern race (though the same species) and can have a
white dorsal stripe or not.
