Black Mamba Dendroaspis polylepis

The Black Mamba is not black but brown-grey with a lighter underside. The inside of its mouth is black. It can grow to 14 feet (4.5 metres) length.

It is native to much of southern and eastern Africa, fast, intelligent, highly venomous and much feared.

However, it attacks people only if provoked/cornered. Prey is birds and rodents.
