Egg-eaters are colubrid snakes native mainly to Africa (some ranging into the Middle East). As their
name indicates, their diet is entirely birds' eggs. Several mimic the look of venomous snakes. The Rufous Egg-eater is also
called the East African Egg-eater and is native to eastern and southeastern Africa. They can swallow eggs 2 or 3 times the
size of their head, showing a large bulge in the neck until it is broken down. The largest grow to about three quarters of a
metre long. They are mainly nocturnal tree climbers.
