The Snouted Cobra is also called the Egyptian Snouted or Egyptian Banded Cobra, strangely, since it is native to southeast Africa.
The Snouted Cobra has two colour forms: the more usual plain brown and a banded variant of off-white and midnight blue.
It can grow to nearly 2 metres (6 feet).
It is highly venomous and, like other cobras, has a "flarable" neck hood to warn of irritation or impending strike.
Prey includes rodents, birds, toads and lizards.
