Black-headed Bushmaster Lachesis melanocephala

The Black-headed Bushmaster is a venomous pit viper native to forest undergrowth of Costa Rica and Panama. Like other bushmaster snakes, it is cryptic, mainly nocturnal and spends time underground or in undergrowth so is rarely seen. It can grow to 2 metres long and is classed as vulnerable.
