The Amazon Tree or Garden Tree Boa is native to northern South America. Males grow to some 5 feet (1.5 metres)
and females to over 6 feet (2 metres).
There are two main colour "phases": the Garden phase is drab olive (shown above left) or brown,
which can be plain or patterned; the Coloured phase is a great variety of often bright reds, oranges and yellows with or without patterns.
They drape themselves over tree branches to wait for passing prey.
