The Ethiopian Mountain Adder is endemic to a few local areas of mountains of Ethiopia, East Africa,
on both sides of the Rift Valley. Very few wild individuals are known. Like the related African Puff Adder and Gaboon Viper,
it has attractive geometric patterns for camouflage but is more colourful to hide among green vegetation. Also like all adders,
its bite is venomous.

Female with grey scales.
Pair.
The male is more colourful than the female (both patterned). She gives birth to live young.
Adults can reach some 1.3 metres long.
