The Yellow-bellied Toad is native to central and southern Europe. It has a warty but plain, camouflaged
top but, like other members of its "fire-bellied" family, has bright orange or yellow patches with blue or black on the underside
(which can include limbs).
It shows its bright yellow/black (or orange/black) underside to potential predators to warn that it is poisonous.
Its body is rounder and underside lighter than its close relative, the European Fire-bellied Toad whose range is mostly further
east.
