Kaiser's Spotted Newt, also called the Zagros Newt and the Emperor Spotted Newt, is known from only four mountain streams in a limited area
of the southern Zagros Mountains of Iran.
They live mainly in a subterranean water system in an arid region but can survive long periods of drought and terrestrial living.
The species is classified as vulnerable because of its limited population and habitat.
They are also threatened by habitat loss through damming, deforestation, farming and tourism
in addition to collection for the pet trade.
