The Emperor Newt, also called the Mandarin Newt, lives in high altitude ponds and streams in China's Yunan province.
Like its relative, the Himalayan Newt, the bright orange or brownish spots, stripes and legs are a warning that the newt
is highly toxic. A poison is ejected from the spots on its back when the newt is squeezed or squeezes itself.
It can grow to 20cm length.
