Gunther's Triangle Frog, also called the Solomon Islands Leaf Frog, as its alternative name indicates,
is endemic to the Solomon Islands. It is a most unusual frog in looks and habits. The "triangle" name relates to the triangular
shape of the head. Its background mimics leaf litter, sometimes relatively plain and sometimes with a few cryptic markings.
Its most unusual feature for a frog is that, having laid eggs in tree holes rather than water, they hatch
as small froglets, foregoing a tadpole stage. They prey on insects and small reptiles/amphibians, including young of their own species.
