The Mimic Poison Frog is a tiny poison dart frog (1-1.5cm head/body length) discovered by science in the late 1980s and native to eastern Peru.
It has several colour/pattern morphs (varieties), some imitating other poison frogs. The morph above
mimics the Amazon Poison Frog, R. amazonica, itself described only in 1999.
A resourceful little frog smaller than a thumbnail, it is riding on the back of a larger (but still
very small) Rio Maranon frog to reach a higher ledge.
