The Crowned Tree Frog, also called Coronated, Crowned Hyla and Spiny-headed, is native to Central America
(areas of tropical forest in southern Mexico, Costa Rico, Honduras and Panama). Large for a tree frog (up to 8cm length), it has
spiny projections from its head. Eggs are laid in bromeliads and small cavities with water
(including unfertilised eggs for tadpole nutrition).
The Crowned Tree Frog is under threat from continued habitat destruction.
