The Green Sea Turtle is one of the seven species of deep sea turtle (marine turtle). They are prevalent throughout tropical oceans of the world.
They are not green, but adults are wholly vegetarian, eating seagrass and algae, resulting in their
body fat becoming green which gives them their name.
They are fully aquatic other than the females coming ashore to lay eggs.
Females migrate thousands of kilometers to come ashore, usually on the same beach where they were born.
One of the largest sea turtles, they can live to 90 years old.
The Green Sea Turtle is endangered through coastal development of beaches, bycatch and illegal trade.
