The Yellow-footed Tortoise, also called the Yellow-legged Tortoise, is native to northern South America.
There are yellow or orange spots on its legs and face.
It is an oblong-shaped tortoise closely related to the similar-looking Red-footed Tortoise.
Sometimes called the Brazilian Giant Tortoise, it can grow to 40-90 cm length (5th largest tortoise).
Like most tortoises, is long-lived in the wild, and can reach over 50 years.
The population is vulnerable to habitat destruction and collection for food and the pet trade.
