The Malaysian Giant Pond Turtle, also called the Bornean River or Giant Turtle, is the largest terrapin in the world, weighing some 50kg
and some 80 cm long (the Amazon River Turtle at 100 cm is classed as fully aquatic "turtle"). It is native to Malaysia and Indonesia.
The terrapin is a delicacy in China (where even its shell is wrongly thought to aid cancer treatment) and it is now highly endangered.
