The Indian Pond Terrapin, also called the Indian Black Turtle, is native to freshwater ponds, streams, rivers and ricefields
of much of South Asia from Nepal to the Maldives, with five regional subspecies. It is not always black (body/face can be whitish/grey, shell
can be brown (top and underside) and some subspecies, especially as juveniles, have yellow spots on the face. It can reach 40-45cm carapace length.
