The Pygmy Mulga Monitor, also called Gillen's Monitor, is native to deserts of central and northwestern Australia. It can grow to some 40cm long. It is mainly arboreal and has a prehensile tail, but often also hunts prey on the ground. Prey is mainly insects, spiders and small geckos. The Mulga Monitor is very well-adapted to extremely dry conditions.
