Sungazer Smaug (prev. Cordylus) giganteus

The Sungazer, also called the Giant Girdled Lizard, is native to high grasslands of South Africa. It raises its head when basking, hence "sungazer". It is not giant in lizard terms but it is large for a girdled lizard, reaching as much as 20cm length. They live communally and are vulnerable through habitat destruction.
