Snake-eyed Lizard Ophisops elegans

The Snake-eyed Lizard is native to south-eastern Europe, including Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, through Turkey and the Caucasus, the Middle East, northern India, Central Asia and North Africa (Algeria to Egypt). It is called Snake-eyed since, unlike most lizards but like snakes, it has no eyelids - but it has a transparent membrane it can close to clean the eye.
